    Story

I am going in the rohinga camp and I want to set up one water pump, so 500 people will be able to drink water.

nearly one million people is thursty and can not drink water.Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are facing a severe crisis of safe drinking water as the water level in coastal areas decreases day by day.

Experts say that the water crises may worsen in the coming days if consumption of underground water continues at the present rate without proper monitoring of the water table.

He said that the situation was even worse in the camps of Teknaf as there was no underground water in that area. “The only way to have safe drinking water for these refugees is surface water of the ponds,” Khairul said.

A long, winding queue of Rohingyas starts to form near the only working tubewell before daybreak. As the small hours go by and the sun begins to glare, the thirsty people leave their 5-10 litre water containers in the queue and wait nearby.

Sometimes it takes almost 10 hours for a family to get several containers of water. The families then decide whether to cook or take a shower with the water as an acute water shortage plagues the refugee camps in Bangladesh

"What would I do this little water? It is not enough to cook properly,” Nazmul Hakim, a Rohingya man living in Teknaf's Leda camp, told thiscampaigner

A woman of the camp Sanjida Khatun said she took a shower only once a week given she managed a bucketful of water.
