Weʼre raising £35,000 to help fund the purchase of a Humber Destroyer Safety Boat for the Holm Sailing Club, Orkney.
- St Marys, Holm, Orkney
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
The Holm Sailing club is now accepting donations to help fund a new safety boat. Lena, our current vessel, was purchased 18 years ago and has provided club members and the wider sailing community, safety cover during our weekly sailing events and annual regattas. We have also been able to support other clubs and assist in their events throughout Orkney.
The club would like a new boat to continue to provide this important work. During its 70th Anniversary, the club started to raise club funds to put towards this purchase. However, in 2020, the club was unable to operate as normal, and no fund raising was able to take place.
As restrictions lessen, we can now start to plan for the future.
With the Island Games coming to Orkney in the near future, the club would like to contribute the safety cover. Providing this cover with a new boat will ensure that this can be done to the highest level as safety on the water is paramount. A successful Island Games with help achieve a legacy for dinghy sailing in Orkney.
In addition to this Just giving page the club have approached a number of local and national funders to help with the cost of this new vessel.
If you would like to contribute we would be very grateful.
