My best friend Ben has been with me through thick and thin, I’ve known him since I was 15 & he was 17, oh what a rush it was to have someone with their own flat, we were inseparable: we shared the formative years of our lives side by side. When I first started dialysis at age 19 he was the first to offer a kidnney. When my peripheral neuropathy got so bad J could not play guitar any more, he consoled me. Years later, when I had a kidney transplant I was walking again, all I think was what we could do all with my new found life. Then, three months later, I had a major stroke and could walk no more. I was in hospatil for 10 nonths, he’d com3 up every spare minute. When I got out he’d arranged a Ryan Adams concert to make me feel human again.

We’ve been through thick and thin, our waistlines can confirm it.

We don’t see eachother as often as we’d had as he’s playing in bands and he’s a working stiff also, and he’s planning his wedding to the beatiful Clair.

This, I’m afraid, is where you lovelies step from the fog. Like most writers, particularly those living on disability, I have little, if any money.

I to often need help and I’m ashamed of this, but if I wear a nice suit that’ll be a tribute to him, our friendship and all he’s done for me.
