Story
Thank-you for taking the time to visit my page.
Buxton 2517 Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC) is a voluntary youth organisation (12-19 years) that has the Royal Air Force as the parent service, with many other squadrons up and down the Country. The aims of the ATC are to provide young adults with training that will be useful, in service and civilian life; promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and our air force; and foster the spirit of adventure, develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship.
The Royal Air Force is an organisation that that is deeply rooted in my heritage and I am proud that my parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles and my brother were all part of the airforce in one way or another. I am however most proud of my daughter, who at a young age has expressed an interest in aviation and her family history and has joined Buxton ATC Squadron, where she is now excelling.
Sadly, Buxton Air Cadets are having to say goodbye to their much loved minibus. This minibus plays a vital role in getting air cadets to various activities and events both locally and nationally. What was supposed to be a two year experiment, lasted six years but the now 16 year old minibus is beyond repair.
The Squadron has been raising funds towards a new minibus in the background for some time, but they are still approximately £6k short. To that end I am helping in the only way I know how, WALKING and ADVENTURES in the wilds of Scotland, no wife and no kids, woohoo!!! I will miss them greatly though, as I always do. I plan to walk the Great Glen Way in Scotland for 6 days to help raise funds for this worthy cause with my brother Nick and a good friend Darren.
So please, dig deep and help me raise some much needed funds to help these cadets get their minibus. They are our future and there is no amount to small.
