Story
The Motive Power Depot (MPD) of the NYMR has always had shed cats or Rodent Control Officers to use their official title. These cats just tend to turn up and settle in. Life on shed is great. They have a warm place to sleep, get fed and can have as much or as little fuss as they want. At present there are two long standing residents, Erica and Dink, and a new kit on the block, Tibby. These three ladies are loved by staff and volunteers and their upkeep is paid for by donations from our visitors. On 24th September our beautiful tortoiseshell Erica (named after the Black 5 Eric Treacy) was found in a bad way. We suspect she may have fallen from the top of the foot tunnel. She was rushed to the emergency call out vet as it was Sunday. Her X Rays and checks haven't shown anything broken and the vet suspects some trauma and hopefully with some cage she will make a full recovery. However the bill for her checks, x rays and pain relief this morning was over £250. The NYMR has generously offered to pay this but there are further bills as she has been back to the vet again since. This will just about clean out the fund so any donation small or large to keep these lovely cats fed and cared for would be most gratefully accepted.
Erica is currently residing in a dog cage in our front room. She is not in pain and has made good progress. She couldn't stand at all but with three days rest she is now back on her feet, albeit brief and wobbly. Her spine is OK but we think she has had a nasy bump to her pelvis and just needs some rest and painkillers. Erica is the most delightful, placid cat and she deserves another chance. She's given so much pleasure to staff and visitors to Grosmont MPD over the last twelve years or so.

Grosmont MPD Shed Cats
7 years agoErica is slowly improving but her enforced rest will take its toll on her fitness. She has been outside for a few brief moments but she tries to make a break for freedom. She's not yet fit enough to attempt taking her back but fingers crossed she will get there. Her total bill was £381 and hopefully the railway will cover some of that. So your donations are much appreciated to help feed and care for Erica, Dink and Tibby.
