During a recent visit to Dubai I was appalled at the number of stray cats I saw roaming the streets, abandoned and many injured.

I researched local initiatives to support the stray cat population of Dubai and came across The Animal Project, an organisation which helps support these strays among many other things.

Things to know about stray animals in Dubai:
- There are approx. 250k stray cats alone with little government support to resolve the problem or funding for animal welfare organisations, PETA do not even have a presence there
- There is no Trap, Neuter and release (TNR) programme nationally and for this reason the problem will only get worse as the population multiplies
- Frequently, The Animal Project find maimed, mutilated and injured strays which they work with local vets to help
- For this reason organisations like The Animal Project rely solely on commercial endeavors and support from benefactors

THE ANIMAL PROJECT NEED GOOD QUALITY TRAPS TO SAVE INJURED CATS AND BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM TO THE VET AND ALSO TRAP, NEUTER AND RELEASE CATS TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM GETTING WORSE
