The Gwobr Esyllt Prize was established in 2016 to celebrate the contribution made to storytelling in Wales by Esyllt Harker. Esyllt was one of Wales’s leading storytellers and played a unique and vital role in storytelling in Wales, working in Welsh and English. She died in 2014. The Gwobr Esyllt Prize supports a woman storyteller from Wales to develop her craft. The prize includes the opportunity to develop a new work to be performed for the Beyond the Border Storytelling Festival in 2023.

This opportunity is made possible through fundraising and donations, led by the Chwedl network of Welsh women storytellers and other supporters of the prize. The prizewinner will be announced at the Beyond the Border Storytelling Festival in Dinefwr on Sunday 4th July 2021. For more information about the festival, taking place from 2nd – 4th July, see https://beyondtheborder.com/

    Beth yw Gwobr Esyllt Prize?

Creuwyd Gwobr Esyllt Prize yn 2016 i ddathlu cyfraniad Esyllt Harker i chwedleua yng Nghymru. Roedd Esyllt yn un o chwedlwragedd blaengar Cymru, yn gweithio yn y Gymraeg a’r Saesneg. Bu’n chwarae rhan unigryw a phwysig yn nghelf llafar Cymru. Bu farw yn 2014. Mae Gwobr Esyllt Prize yn cefnogi chwedlwraig o Gymru i ddatblygu ei chelf. Mae’r wobr yn cynnwys cyfle i ddatblygu gwaith newydd fydd yn cael ei berfformio ar gyfer Gŵyl Chwedleua Beyond the Border yn 2023.

Creuwyd y cyfle hwn trwy roddion a chodi arian dan arweiniad Chwedl, rhwydwaith chwedlwragedd o Gymru, a chefnogwyr eraill y wobr. Cyhoeddir enw’r ennillwraig yn ystod Ngŵyl Chwedleua Beyond the Border yn Ninefwr ar Ddydd Sul y 4edd o Orffennaf 2021. Am fwy o wybodaeth am yr Ŵyl, 2 hyd at 4 o Orffennaf, gweler: https://beyondtheborder.com/.
