Story
Gyaltsen Sherpa was the best guide and one of the loveliest people I have ever met.
Sadly, he died on 15th August 2017.
Gyaltsen often spoke, with affection, of the many guests he had travelled with across his beautiful country. We know that he worked hard to make our holidays memorable by keeping us safe as well as pointing out wildlife, flowers and other aspects of life in Nepal that we would otherwise have missed. He introduced us to his many friends along the trail and was always willing to help someone that was struggling, whether they were part of his tour or not.
It's now our chance to help Gyaltsen achieve his wish for Pasang. He was very proud of his son and wanted Pasang to have the best life chances by gaining as much education as he is able. Pasang studies well and needs our help, in the absence of his father.
Basant discussed this with Pasang and has written :
Dear Friends,
We are trying to help Gyaltsen wife and specially Pasang only son for his further future plan, he is currently going to finish school grade 12th and want to go to US for higher study if not some training or job. We plan to raise UKP 5000 to help Pasang future plan. If we manage to raise fund, I have asked my wife Prerana to monitor the finance to ensure fund is wisely used. Prerana work for a Charity called Future for Nepal (FFN) which had been sponsoring Pasang education since he was a small child and sponsorship will be till 12 grade. I together with many of our friends are willing to help Gyaltsen`s son and if anybody wish to help, please use this site and let us know.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Basant

6 years agoThank you to everyone who has donated in Gyaltzen's memory, it will make a big difference to his son and will be added to the amount that Basant has raised directly from staff and friends. I'm closing the account in the next few days and will send what we have collected to Basant in Kathmandu. He has set up a bank account that is jointly managed by Pasang and Basant's wife so that is where our cash will end up. Thank you once again. Namaste!

7 years agoNearly 10% of the way already! I've put a link to this Just Giving page on the Basanta Adventure Facebook page under the two articles about Gyaltsen. If you can spread this through your links or can think of other ways to bring this to the attention of the many people that Gyaltsen guided or knew then that would be brilliant. Thanks

Just back from the most amazing trek in Tibet thanks to Basant and his team. I hope Pasang's education will be a recognition of his father. Gill Railton (Yorkshire born and bred!)

I am running this appeal so Basant Bajracharya (M.D. of Basanta Adventure, for whom Gyaltsen worked) can distribute what we raise. When it closes I will make an international money transfer to Basant's account in Kathmandu. Only 10-12% will go in various card/web fees
