On 13 April Mashal Khan , a handsome young student of Journalism in Mardan university was lynched to gruesome death by fellow students who had gathered in thousands. The young charming student known for extensive reading of philosophers and scientists was accused of asking difficult questions. The mob comprising students and university employees first shot him with a pistol and then kicked the injured student to death. His body was deprived of clothes and attempts were made to burn the dead body. Mashal, who hailed from a poor rural family had promised his mother that he would visit her over the weekend. The mother received brutally disfigured corpse of her son instead. Mashal who was the future hope of a very poor family was burried by close relatives as charges of blasphemy in Pakistan also result in social boycott.
I am a university teacher in the UK. I cherish students like Mashal who read a lot and have a critical mind. I watched the video of lynching of Mashal inside the confines of a university and felt like dying with him. The link of the gruesome incident is given below. Its very graphic and is very upsetting.

I have setup this funding campaign to express solidarity with the parents of Mashal Khan. I have asked a few friends to obtain bank account details of the father of Mashal . Reluctantly the details were given as he is a proud man and wants justice more than donations. All contributions collected will however be directly transferred to him as a mark of solidarity with his family.
