Story
I've been inspired to raise money for the amazing work of Yezidi Emergency Support by my gorgeous daughter Sophia who is currently in the middle of 3 days of eating just rice, oats and beans to raise money for a refugee family in Kurdistan.
On May 13th, I'll be running 29 miles with my Dad as part of the 'Race The Tide' event in South Devon. I'm hoping to raise (at least!) £10 for each mile to further support Y.E.Z (www.yezidiemergencysupport.org).
Any money raised will go into their main fund so the trustee's can decide where it is most needed. Current projects include raising money for an antenatal clinic and midwives in the Shingal city and Sinar area, funding vital surgery for various Yezidi peoples who were left grievously injured at the hands of Daesh (ISIS), raising money for wheelchairs for children in Sinjar with no support and supporting many other individuals desperately in need.
Please consider sparing a few pounds if you can for the Yezidi's, a peaceful but now often forgotten displaced ethnic minority from Iraq. To read more about The Yezidi Genocide please visit http://yezidiemergencysupport.org/about/.

6 years agoIn 12 hours time we'll have registered, got our numbers and be limbering up ready for 29 miles around beautiful South Devon! Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me, you're all amazing and the money will go directly to fund the work of Yezidi Emergency Support. At the moment, heavy rains have destroyed tents and families belongings in a refugee camp on Sinjar Mountain and the team at Y.E.S are working hard to help those left with nothing and nowhere to live as well as continuing work to organise essential medical treatment for those in need.

6 years agoOver the bank holiday weekend Dad and I did our last training run together, 6 miles through the beautiful New Forest. You can see me testing out my Yezidi Emergency Support vest! It is now less than a week unti race day so it's all about a few short runs, rest and gradually increasing carbs. It's not looking like I'm going to hit my target of £10 per mile but £5 per mile (total £145) is in still in sight, if you could spare a few pounds it would be most appreciated!
