Why you ask ;)…?
The Childhood Trust brought out a report called ‘Holiday From Hell’ which shows - 65% of children and young people are frightened of being attacked and/or exploited by gangs during the summer holidays and 66% of children and young people would go hungry if a charity did not provide meals during the holidays.
Knife crime has been a topic for all news outlets this year with more and more young people, families and communities being devastated by its effects.
At Lives Not Knives, have been mentoring and giving 1 to 1 support to over 200 young people from Pupil Referral Units & Secondary schools who are at a high risk of becoming 'not in employment, education or training', and therefore more more likely to get involved in anti-social behavior over the summer holidays, rather than gearing up to go to college.
We are fundraising to deliver work skill workshops and employability related activities over the summer, that will contribute towards the personal development of some of the most vulnerable young people in London. This, in turn, has a proven track record of reducing the chance of them getting involved in kinfe crime and anti social behaviour.
To make this happen, we have 8 LNK supporters and myself doing a skydive this Friday to raise funds for Lives Not Knives to deliver our summer programme!
