Dear family and friends,

On the 30th June I will be travelling to Jordan as part of an organisation called Atlantic Humanitarian Relief, in order to provide medical and humanitarian aid to the Syrian refugees who have been displaced from their homes.

The military conflict in Syria has displaced more than 6.3 million people within the country and caused almost 5 million refugees to seek safety in surrounding countries like Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, and Egypt. More than 120,000 lives have been lost since the conflict began and many have been injured and are in need of care. In Jordan, over 655,000 men, women and children are currently trapped in exile. Approximately 80% of them live outside camps, while more than 140,000 have found sanctuary at the camps of Za’atari and Azraq.

We aim to deliver vital health care services, humanitarian aid and sustainable development projects to those in need. We will be working closely with the UNHCR and I will primarily be attending as a doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, providing care to both pregnant and non-pregnant women.
