Weʼve raised £975 to Happy Helping Hands - taking clothes, toys, sports' attributes and school items to kids in the townships (slums) of Cape Town!

    Story

    Who are we?
Annabelle Jelsma, 28 years old, nurse (International Health Studies), kite surfer who lives in The Hague and loves Cape Town.

    and

Maret Reutelingsperger, 30 years of age, marketing chick (Brand Troubadour), wakeboarder who lives in the UK and Cape Town virgin.

    What's the background?
Annabelle is going to Cape Town for the fifth time, where Maret will go and visit her in January. We want to do more than just go on holiday and kite surf. Annabelle has met many people during her stays and has gotten to know people who live in the townships (slums) really well. There are a lot of kids around that have lost their parents to HIV/Aids and are caring for each other. These kids deserve some more.

    So what's our goal?
Trying to collect items in The Netherlands and the UK to take to Cape Town didn’t seem feasible. That’s why we want to raise as many donations as possible to buy items there (at a much cheaper price) and share these with the kids right away. This way, we know that all donations entirely go to these kids. We want to make sure we can take a mountain of clothes, stuffed animals, toys, school items and sports’ attributes. We think we can make some magic and bring big smiles to these little ones.

73%! The Christmas Jumper Day was a huge success and raised a whopping £165, meaning we are already surpassing the target, but the more we raise, the more we can do... So please keep sharing, we want to go to several schools in the townships and are currently talking to the school's council ambassadors to understand what is needed most - we want your donations to make a difference!

35% of target reached - this is going fantastically! On Friday, I have organised a Christmas Jumper day at work, to spread the cheer and raise even more donations! I'm hoping that my rocky road will convince even more people to put in a bit of cash... Results to follow!
