This is Harley our beautiful little boy, Harley was born on the 17/01/17 with an antenatal diagnosis of spina bifida (split spine).

At 36 hrs old Harley had his spinal closure surgery, then it was a waiting game to see if he would need a vp shunt fitted to help drain any extra fluid in his ventricles. Luckily Harley has never needed a shunt.

Then at 8 months old Harley was diagnosed with DDH in his left hip (hip dysplasia). He underwent general anaesthetic and an open reduction to manipulate his hip back into the socket, Harley then spent 6 months in a hip spica cast and then a rhino brace to help the hip remain in the right place.

Now Harley is having physio and orthotics assessments to help him start bearing weight. He currently wears a AFO to help keep his left foot at a 90° angle instead of constantly pointing downwards.

We are extremely confident that he will infact walk, and so are his consultants and his physio therapist.

This page has been set up to help towards the best walking aids that we can get. That could be anything from a walking frame,wheelchair or even a specalist car seat.
