    Story

St Ambrose College, has a sister school in Sierra Leone, called St Ambrose Academy. As students, we have strong links to this school, many of whose pupils have been orphaned by the Ebola Crisis. The Academy is completely dependant on the funds raised by St Ambrose College, and, as part of that, our school holds an annual sponsored walk. The funds raised from last year's sponsored walk were used to complete the construction of a borehole, to allow the students to have access to clean water. This year, we are hoping to improve their sanitation and toilet facilities.

Each year, to maintain the link with St Ambrose Academy, a group of Sixth Formers visit the school in Sierra Leone to assist the pupils with their education and recreation. The pupils there are grateful to St Ambrose College, and are delighted to see visitors, as it is a sign that their country is safe. Whilst there, we will be taking the pupils there to a chimpanzee sanctuary, an experience to which they would never usually have access. Our trip is vital in making sure we retain our strong bond with St Ambrose Academy, who are a fellow Christian Brothers school.

However, this Immersion requires a great deal of fundraising, which will not be an easy task. Having completed the sponsored walk, our Immersion team will be tackling the English half-marathon and Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks Challange. This trip is a significant event for St Ambrose Academy, and we would be grateful for any donations.

If any company is interested in becoming a corporate sponsor on the personalised t-shirts we will be wearing to complete the half-marathon and Three Peaks Challenge, please contact 12doohanmarcus@st-ambrosecollege.org.uk .

    Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

    Harry Backhouse.

I'm a Sixth Form Student at St Ambrose College. Next February, I'm hoping to take part in an Immersion Programme to Sierra Leone. Any donations towards the English half-marathon or Three Peaks Challenge would be appreciated.
