East Oxford United Football Club has been invited to send 17 boys to Perm, Oxford's twin city in Russia, to spend two weeks at the Perm Youth International Football Camp.
WHO ARE WE?
Our club operates a “pay what you can” policy on membership fees in order to ensure that children and young people from low income families in poorer parts of Oxford are included centrally in the club. The majority of trip participants are from families who have been unable to pay the full membership fee of £120 per year. Many of them are from minority ethnic backgrounds and have never travelled outside the UK, with the exception of their parents’ countries of origin.
So this visit to Perm is a fantastic chance for them to have an active sports holiday, to discover a new country and culture and make new friends for two whole weeks!
HOW WE HAVE RAISED SOME OF THE MONEY
Last year we had to postpone the trip - not enough money - but this year we are determined to get there!. We have managed to raise more than £10000 and the young players are so excited. The families contribute what they can - but that is not easy. Oxford City, Oxford International Links, Ooxford Bus Company, local charities and the boys' fund-raising have helped. But we still need £1200 SO WE NEED YOUR HELP!
THE FOOTBALL VISIT
The 17 players between the ages of 12 and 15, accompanied by 2 club coaching staff and 4 parents will travel to Perm on 28th July! They have tickets and they have Russian visas. They are fundraising in Tesco this weekend. But to cover those costs we need £1200.
