As some of you may know, I have just started my second year paediatric nursing. For the end of second year, I have been offered the opportunity to do a four week nursing placement in Kathmandu, Nepal (South Asia). I have decided to grab this opportunity with both hands as it is the opportunity of a lifetime. I will be travelling with Jade my friend and fellow child nursing student in August 2017.

Whilst out in Nepal, I will be working in various nursing placements such as community clinics and a dedicated children's hospital. I will be spending 3 of my 4 weeks here, and then my final week will be spent living with a host family in the Himalayan mountains in a mud hut to experience how the deprived areas cope in the way of health care.

Whilst I have just paid my £300 deposit to secure my place, I am going to need some help as the remaining balance is going to cost in the region of a further £2000, so I have got a lot of fundraising ahead.
