Story
On the 5th September 2009 my 2nd child Ethan was born at 22 weeks. Far to early to live and he was destined to be an angel. We were looked after by the fabulous midwives at the RUH bath and we're given a private room that the midwives had done their best to make as less clinical as possible.
My husband and I had a complete mix of emotions from feeling incrediblely scared, distraught and devestated, to an overwhelming love for our baby boy. We were able to spend as long as we wanted in our room after Ethan had been born. Time to spend with him, to cuddle him, take photos of him and fall asleep with him in my arms. This time was so precious as I knew we wouldn't be doing what all the other parents would be doing. We wouldn't be walking out of the maternity unit with him tucked up in his car seat.
The money raised will be used to make a specialist room designed for parents that will not be taking their babies home. So my husband, my brother and myself will be running the Chippenham half marathon to raise as much money as possible for the forget-me-not suite. it will make the room comfortable and a home from home where angel babies can be born. Also for the parents and families to spend as much precious time as they need with their baby. This will be In the parents memory forever and we would like to help create the best environment possible for this.
