Savanna became very ill about 2 weeks before Xmas. The doctors diagnosed double pneumonia, sepsis, RSV, staphylococcus aureus and the influenza virus. She did not respond to antibiotics and in order to try and save her life she was rushed to GOSH to be placed on ECMO . She was hooked up to this life support machine for more than 6 weeks and, at last, about two weeks ago, she was well enough to come off it. Savanna's mum and dad, besides themselves with worry, have had to take weekly turns to stay with her at her hospital bedside whilst the other has been staying at home to look after her brother and sister. The family did not have a Xmas together and Savanna's 2nd birthday passed without her being conscious. These past few weeks have put a tremendous strain on the family, not only emotionally but also on their finances as neither mum or dad can work at the moment. We are raising funds to help the family financially as Savanna recovers from her terrible ordeal in hospital and also for them to be able to spend some special time together as a family when she is discharged. By then, there will be another new member of the family too!
