Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
On 29th Sep16 Mel was found by her son Finn at the bottom of their stairs at home. Now as a paramedic you will not be surprised to know that Mel taught Finn what to do in the event of an emergency, we doubt very much that Mel would every of thought she would be the emergency that Finn would be dealing with.
Finn contacted the emergency services where her colleagues from the ambulance service attended. However due to the severity of her injuries Shropshire Air Ambulance airlifted Mel to Hospital where she was taken straight into theatre with a bleed on the brain & multiple fractures. Mels family was told to expect the worst as she was so badly injured & may not make it.
The next few months were very tough & Mel was very poorly but continued to fight.
In August 17 Mel move to a Neurological Rehabilitation Centre where they are helping Mel overcome her mobility, speech & sight problems. We all realise that Mel's time in these hospitals is limited & funding has to be applied for & is not guaranteed.
Fund raising continues for Mel as at some point she will come home & this in itself will present many new challenges to Mel & going to require specialist equipment & adaptations, & whilst she will get some help from the state her friends need to ensure she has either the best or next to best as we know this will offer Mel every chance of living as normal a life as is possible.
