We are a fledgling project which is rapidly growing! We are created and staffed by men and women who have experienced life in prison, and are based just outside the gates of HMP Manchester. We offer advice and support for people leaving/having left prison around a range of issues, to include: housing, benefits, getting ID, addiction, family issues, adjusting to being out - plus ongoing training and development for our workers. We are linked with Manchester based support providers and services, all of whom are working with us to deliver holistic and individualised support. We have recently developed a street outreach service, working with homeless ex offenders.
Our workers understand the barriers faced after release because they have `been there` - this understanding and empathy allows us to work in a way which is meaningful and well received.
We currently have no core funding, and have been reliant upon kind donations to enable us to continue.
