Story
In 2014 Michele was diagnosed with shingles. She started with back pain. Michele went to the doctors to be told it could be an injury from the gym, In December 14 her leg swelled up so she went back to the doctors as she thought it may be a blood clot. They sent her for a scan where they found a malignant tumour and it had spread into the bone in her hip. She had more scans and biopsies they were struggling to find the primary cancer. In February 15 it was confirmed she had cancer with an unknown primary source. She was immediately referred to Christies. She was advised that the only option was chemo to shrink the tumours. She began a course of chemo followed by a course of radiotherapy. After another scan she was told that the tumour in her bone had shrunk however there was a further tumour. As this was secondary and they had no idea where the primary was, Michele’s options of treatment were limited. After seeking advice, she changed her diet, registered for trails and looked into private treatment. In October 15, Michele discovered that the cancer had spread into her liver. More chemo treatment followed and after 10 months scans showed that this wasn’t working and the tumour had changed again. In August 16 she began a 3rd round of chemo. In December Michele had several infections and sadly was told that the treatment hadn’t been effective and that they couldn’t offer her any further options. Over the last 2 years Michele has looked into all different kinds of treatment. Then she came upon the Hallwang Private Oncology Clinic in Germany. They have a good rate of success and tailor treatments using pioneering immunotherapy. After seeing Michele’s scans and testing tissue samples the clinic have agreed to treat Michele however this treatment is very expensive, and could cost in the region of £300,000.00. Michele is due to travel to Germany for a consultation and we would like to support her financially with future treatment there by raising funds here in HR.

7 years agoHi quick update on how Michele is getting on. She successfully completed round 1 of treatment and had a targeted treatment to her liver called TACE (where the blood supply to the tumour is blocked and chemo is directly administered into her liver) Initial results are positive Michele came home to recover for a few weeks. She needs 3-4 rounds of this specialised treatment, she’s flying back to Germany soon for round 2. Each visit to Germany and treatment is very costly. Massive thanks everyone your donations no matter what amount helps save her

7 years agoHello all, wanted to thank you all for the generosity and messages you have shown. Michele and her family are overwhelmed by your support. To give you an update, Michele flew to Germany last Sunday by air ambulance. She has had a consultation which went well. She has had a scan, a liver detox and an immune booster. The treatment she urgently needed has now started and she has been told she should notice a difference in about a week. Your continued support is amazing and Michele is taking strength from it. Thank you to each and everyone.
