Story
Please help us to fund treatment and find a forever home for Charlie the Grey Stray
Charlie is a beautiful grey and white, long hair cat who has been living on the streets and in our back yards since his owners moved out of the area and abandoned him some years ago. Charlie is still young, timid and afraid so it takes a quite bit of encouragement (and food) to gain his trust. Unfortunately he is not neutered or micro-chipped so we have not been able to locate his original owners.
Until recently we would feed Charlie and slip flea and worm medication into his food whenever we saw him, which was infrequent as there are a lot of Tomcats in our area a lot more aggressive than he is, so he has wisely kept a low profile. In recent months we noticed a steady decline in his overall health and he started to look rather more ragged than usual. He was struggling to eat and his lovely long hair became more and more matted.
We made the decision to capture him and take him to a vet as soon as possible and yesterday we were finally successful.
The current situation is that he urgently needs treatment for a severe mouth infection and its likely that he may lose a few teeth in the process. Charlie will also need to be neutered before he can be safely re-homed. We are doing what we can with the help of the lovely folk down at The Vet in Morden by contributing what we can to his treatment but we do need some help. Currently the bill is running at around £350 and we are also appealing to local charities to try get him on their books for adoption. In the meantime any spare change we can raise would go a long way to getting the vital treatment he needs and would be so much apurrrrrreciated!
If you know of anyone who may be able to offer Charlie a loving forever home, please do put them on to us and we will connect them with Cats Protection who currently have him on their wait list for re-homing.
I'll update this page with progress and more photos of the little guy as often as I can, fingers crossed all goes well for his operation later today.
Thank you so much for your support!
Lisa

6 years agoWonderful news! Charlie has continued to make excellent progress in his recovery and is happier and brighter every day + he's also been found a new home! After receiving the all-clear for FiV & a microchip, Charlie will go his new forever home with Vicky and Gary who seem totally charmed by him & excited to be welcoming their new friend home. Charlie's completely lucked out with a few of his 9 lives still intact - bless him! - I am sure that Vicky will share one or two pics with us once he has settled in. Good luck Charlie & thank you all!
