    Story

I have been inspired to raise money for women living in parts of Africa. Let me tell you why. I hope my short story will inspire you to help make things possible.

As part of a school project, I and a few other students had the amazing opportunity to visit Ghana. Ghana is a nation on West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea. Ghana is said to have some of the happiest people in the world. And I couldn't agree more.

Despite the hardships faced by the people living there to get through day-to-day life, everyone is always smiling and trying to help others. I was amazed, and the cheerful atmosphere tremendously lifted my spirit.

Whilst I was there, I noticed the large numbers of woman walking around carrying items on their heads to sell. They sold soap, snacks, toothbrushes etc. What caught my eye was that, some of these women, were in actual fact very young girls. Another thing that caught my eye was that most, if not all, of these women were carrying babies and children tied to their backs with cloth. I was deeply impacted by everything I saw and felt the need to help.

Upon returning home, I realised that, this problem was not one experienced only by the women in Ghana, but many other millions of women living in other parts of Africa. These women, day and night, carry items on their heads to sell. And whilst doing all of this, care for their children.

When I spoke to a woman, she said:

It's hard and very tiring. But we have no other choice. This is the only way we can get money. If we do not do this, how can we feed our children?

When I asked her about her children's education she replied saying

I cannot afford to send my children to school. It is expensive. My top priority right now is that we have food to eat and a place to sleep. But I hope that one day my children will have the privilege of going to school.

I strongly believe that we can raise money to help some of these women send their children to school whilst they go off to work. My current target is £5000. Any money raised will be used to help these women. I hope to raise more money in the future in order to help women in other parts of Africa, as well as Ghana.

Please help us make a difference!
