Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
After finaly being homed after months of struggles, Caroline, a single mum of two was made homeless due to her private rental being sold. Despite having a son living with daily struggles of Autism Spectrum Condition and ADHD, Caroline was moved to temporary accommodation. This was unsettling for both children and yet she ensured that normality, school routines and the like were kept consistent. It was with much relief that at the start of this month Caroline was awarded social housing. (obtaining a private rental is surrounded by so much red tape that she, as thousands of others discover, could not be accepted)
The news of the house was obviously such a relief for Caroline however, she has now discovered that she will have to carpet the concrete floors that it has. There is no way her minimal wage and supporting benefits will cover this cost.
At Christmas time and as a carer of a disabled child, it amazes me that no agencies can offer her a grant because she is working part time and not in receipt of certain benefits.
Her fear.... of course that she can keep the children warm over winter but more specifically that her eldest son, Chandler, will be living in a house that is unsafe. He is vulnerable to meltdowns and high anxiety and can lose control over his body during these most distressing times, thrashing and hurting himself, even in the most protective of areas. Concrete floors obviously pose a significant risk to him and this concerns us all.
At this time of giving, if anyone can help Caroline and her family to make some or all of the property safe and warm, it will be a greater gift than many could really understand.
Thank You so much
