    Story

    Dear Football Fans!

The future of Ukrainian football club CSCA Kyiv is under threat and we need to do something about it!

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24th February, the sporting infrastructure of Ukraine has been badly damaged both physically and financially and one of those under threat is the Central Army Sports Club, which is the football club of the Ukrainian Army.

CSCA Kyiv is a proud institution which not only provides football for the local community, but does a lot of work with veterans' organisations and others. It is a community asset which is worth saving.

In its former guise, CSCA played in the Ukrainian Premier League and reached two Ukrainian Cup Finals and also competed in both the European Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Cup. These days the club is wholly amateur and the team participates in the Championship and Cup of the KSRFF (Kiev-Svyatoshinsky Regional Football Federation).

The officials, coaches and players of the club work and play entirely for free but the club needs £1,200 per month to pay for administrative aspects such as medical provision, pitch hire, and competition fees. The club is hoping to join the new season in August and so we are trying to raise £5,000 to pay for participation in the months of August, September, October and November 2022.

Because of the war, many individuals have gone to fight for their country to help Ukraine resist Russian aggression. These individuals include Head Coach, Ruslan Perizhok.

Please help if you can. England is the home of football and together we can prolong the life of this important football club.

    Yours in sport,

    Phil Howden

Well, we're nearly there! 90% of the funds have been raised and are already making a difference. Can we get over the line? Who knows but it's been a top effort. Thanks for your support!

So folks, we're up to £3,200 as of 12th September 2022. While of course we are £1,800 short of the target it does feel like the finish line is on the horizon. Hopefully, by the start of October when I plan to finish the campaign, we have got somewhere near the total. If you know any generous soul who might be interested in donating, every penny counts. Thanks! PS The team started the Kyiv City Championship at the weekend with a 1-0 away win at Zmina!

We've passed the £2,000 mark! Still a long way to go and we may not get there, but thanks for your support as £2k is an excellent milestone to reach during a cost of living crisis. "We go again!".
