Story
Heather, age 34, married Gary Kent, a local Clitheroe guy last April in South Africa. She was a fun loving girl, especially enjoying diving with Gary. Cooking tea one night Gary passed Heather a beer, which she promptly dropped. He turned to tease her saying she was clumsy and right before his eyes, she lost use of her right side. They lived in Thailand, once she was stable, Heather's parents flew her and a team of Neurology staff to their home in South Africa. Heather has been united here with Gary 3 weeks now.
She is not entitled to any benefits although she has a UK passport. Gary has had to take a full time job so they can afford a small house. There is very little in it to help Heather with her day to day living. Gary is getting Heather up and dressed before work in a morning and getting her downstairs. He leaves her lunch prepared and she has Gary's family pop in on her during the day. When Gary gets home at night he prepares the evening meal, gets Heather ready for bed and does some cleaning and laundry before he crashes out.
My aim is to get Heather a motorised wheelchair and some adaptations at home and companionship during the day.
Heather is 34 years old, this could be any one of us or our children. It was a massive stroke not caused by anything Heather did, it was just one of those things.
Anyone that knows me know I never ask for anything, I am always the one to give the help to others but I can't do this on my own. Please help me to help Heather.
I am asking all our friends and family to donate at least £5. Hopefully with the power of social media, if you all share Heather's story, we can give this beautiful young woman some independence back.
Thanks everyone x
