Story
In what is predicted to be one of the coldest winters on record, homeless people whose ages range down to primary school children are at risk of serious illness and even death as temperatures plummet..
We witnessed first hand 2 organisations proactively helping to alleviate the suffering of the homeless on Dublin's streets by providing regular hot food , clothing and their time in a great humanitarian act..
These organisations provide both help and hope to hundreds of homeless people every night and need help to be able to continue to provide as the situation escalates..
We talked to the volunteers and the people who found themselves on the streets and through all their problems they remained upbeat.
We saw an ambulance take one away who had suffered serious illness through the cold..
We witnessed one 14 year old boy help his 19 year old wheelchair bound brother with both having nowhere to stay and at the point of writing this, a homeless person has just lost their life from being on the streets..
We have set the target low to get realistic help for the organisations and the homeless as quickly as possible.. With the temperature drop time is of the essence for some substantive help..
