    Story

Over the past 72 hours, since being at the Children’s Ward at Russell’s Hall, we’ve seen an array of children with different injuries/reasons for being here, from a little girl with brain damage to a boy who was hit by a car. We’ve even seen a teeny tiny newborn whose story we don’t know. Henry is fortunate in that he has only broken his leg and we know that in the grand scheme of things it can and will be fixed.

The staff here are wonderful and are working tirelessly trying to make sure that Henry’s (and our) stay will be as pleasant and as comfortable as possible for the next 4 (possibly a bit more) weeks. The play leaders have shown us the sensory room which Henry is able to visit soon (while still on his bed!) and explained how they are still working on it but have to rely on donations. We would love to raise a bit of money so that the children, whilst staying here, have something great to play with and look at and it’ll just be a way of turning a negative situation into a positive one. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.

So, after nearly four weeks on traction, Henry’s leg has healed! Hooray! The consultant would still like him to have another week traction with an x-ray scheduled for Tuesday (14th). If enough callus has grown the traction can come off with Henry then having a couple of days bed rest. The physio can then decide the best course of action. It will be a long road to recovery but I’m hoping that Hebru’s stubbornness and great sense of independence will help him along the way! Thank you SO much for your donations! It has really touched us. x
