Story
Hillside Specialist College provides education for students aged 16-19 years, all of whom are on the autistic spectrum. On Monday 3 July, a group of 12 students from the college, supported by 10 members of staff went to the Lake District for a 5 day residential visit to the Calvert Trust Activities Centre on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. The Centre provides outdoor adventure holidays for people with physical, learning and sensory disabilities. The group had a fantastic week and took part in a range of activities, including canoeing, archery, ghyll scrambling, cycling, a mine visit, walking and rock and rope activities. In the evenings they accessed the Centre's hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, film night and joined other groups for a disco.
We are raising money to fund this and future residential visits for our students. Please donate and help us to provide such amazing and memorable experiences for our young people. Many thanks.
