Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
We are friends and colleagues from an all female Temporary Supported Housing Project, who are raising money to fund an invaluable self esteem program for the thirty-one extremely vulnerable women whom we support; women who in many cases have suffered a lifetime of abuse and trauma.
We are hoping to raise money by undertaking The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, aiming to climb the three highest peaks in Yorkshire, walking the 25 mile route all within 12 hours!
None of us have ever done anything like this before and are therefore going to have to do an awful lot of training!
However, we are determined to achieve this, as not only is this a personal challenge, but we are passionate about raising enough money to make a real difference to the lives of the women whom we support.
The women at Hinde House have a variety of issues, including historical childhood trauma. Many have experienced domestic abuse and suffer with mental health issues, often leading to low self esteem and self worth due to their negative life experiences.
In recent times we have seen funding cuts to the services that provide specialist support to our clients, with preventative services often the first funding to be cut. Consequently these services have slowly diminished, making it increasingly difficult to access support around low self esteem and self worth for vulnerable women.
Our dream is to be able to raise enough money to fund a self esteem program, which aims to help women achieve a greater sense of self worth, inner strength, resilience, purpose and goals for their future.
The money we raise will be used to purchase course materials and provide staff training above and beyond our everyday roles. This will enable us to deliver an ongoing self esteem program, so that we can provide every vulnerable woman we house now and in the future, with the opportunity to develop their sense of self worth, personal strength and purpose.
