    Story

Home of Peace, a registered Home, was set up in 1993 by a wonderful and remarkable lady called Justine Morais who has dedicated her life to helping girls from underprivileged backgrounds in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The home's sole aim then and now has been to help educate as many underprivileged girls as possible. The level of education for each girl will be determined by their own innate capacity . If a girl wants to continue her education after Secondary School – she would be encouraged to do so, and if another wanted to be a chef, she too will be encouraged and helped along.

Some of our girls were abused, neglected and abandoned. Almost all of the girls were not registered at schools and education was not a part of the plan for their lives.

Most of the girls stayed home as the responsibility of taking care of the family – at a very young age – fell on their shoulders. Mothers had to work as in some cases as the father had abandoned the family or had passed away.

The girls were mostly from slum areas in and around Kuala Lumpur. By and large, such areas are not safe for anyone, much less young children. The place is rife with dangers like gangsterism, drug peddling, and the vice trade.

Since we began our work in 1993, Home of Peace has been able to support at least 15 girls (currently 20) with their education and wellbeing. The Home has seen some of the older girls complete their college and University education.

At the end of their stay at Home of Peace (till the age of 18 years) the girls are matured, well groomed, well-mannered and stable individuals.

All of the work done at the Home of Peace is funded mostly by the public and a caring circle of benefactors, besides a grant from Jabatan Masyarakat Malaysia in recent years. We need your help to continue doing our work, to give the girls a chance at life that most families give their children as their birth right.

Help in these areas is appreciated:

    • Schooling funds

    • Housekeeping funds

    • Volunteer help

    • Household needs

Visiting the home on a recent visit to Malaysia was a very humbling experience for me. I promised Justine before I left that I would raise awareness and try to encourage donations from the UK when I got back to England.

These children deserve a second chance in life. We, in the western world, should count our blessings. These children have nothing but love and hope but they are always cheerful and happy.

It is hoped that you will be moved enough to help these girls achieve their highest potential by donating a little something today.

    Thank you.
