“Here in Madagascar, there is almost no support structure in place to help children who are orphans or whose parents are otherwise incapable of caring for them. These children must look to other relatives for assistance, and if none are forthcoming then they often end up on the street. Personally, I cannot help seeing children who are in desperate needs. This is why I decided to open this orphanage, with little financial means that I had. There were only four children in the beginning, but thanks to donations of people who come and visit us, I could welcome more children. Today they are about thirty"

The Centre offers a home for these vulnerable children, providing food, shelter and the opportunity to go to school. Nelson Mandela once said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which we use to change the world”. This is true. The nurturing and educational environment that the centre provides can turn these children’s’ hopes for the future into reality.

Specifically we are looking for funding for housing, a school and a computer room.

HOUSING: We currently have 30 children housed in 2 nissen huts. We are looking to build 10 more huts. This will cost 50 million Ar (£13000).

SCHOOL: We want to set up a school with 12 rooms and one library. Since we don't have enough space at the centre for a school we will need to buy another space. The good news is that we have already found a space for sale near to the centre. This would cost 24 million Ariary (£6150). Aside from the ground we would also need to pay for the building itself.

COMPUTER ROOM: We want to build one further hut with computers and wifi connection.
