Hi everyone!

As a group of Cardiff University Medical students and a Medicine Lecturer, we wanted to give something back to University Hospital of Wales, where we spend a lot of time learning and teaching.
Some of us have spent considerable time at the Children's Hospital and noticed that, as a relatively new building, it lacks some character. This is particularly obvious around the Intensive Care Unit and on the corridors leading to the operating theatres. As you can imagine, young children who spend time there are probably quite scared and quite often are not allowed to have any toys with them due to infection risk. Being surrounded by white walls, does not really make it better for them.
As a group of pretty arty people, we decided it'd be great to create a mural and a series of small paintings to hang around these areas in the Children's Hospital. We are focusing on space (you can see our first mural draft in the page pic), underwater and fantasy themes (drafts coming soon). However, we are lacking some art materials, such as acrylics and brushes.

Here's where YOU come in. We'd LOVE it if you could help us raise some money for us to buy the art materials we need. We aren't asking for a lot of money, and literally a few pennies you could spare would help us A LOT.

We realise this is an unusual ask, since we aren't running a marathon, or jumping off a plane and raising money for a known charity. However, we believe that putting our art skills to good use, and we have A LOT of art talent within our group, in this occasion will make a difference to the young children admitted to the Children's Hospital. And don't forget that you'll be able to see exactly where your money goes!

The project has been signed off by the Heads of the hospital, so all that is left to do is to crack on and paint. Please get involved, help us give something back to a place that has given us so much so far. :) x
