Story
St James Church Ashurst have kindly agreed to let us get married there. As a thank-you we would like to donate some money to them to help them fund the new roof and other repairs required.
St James church is a 12th century church which is in need of some urgent repairs including a new church roof. They have been given a grant from the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repairs Fund but still need a significant amount to cover the total cost. They are aiming to raise a total of £40,000 which will allow them to address the repairs required.
It is a Grade I listed building and has a very unusual architecture. It has squat tower, capped by a shingle spire, with thick-set buttresses. There is an attractive wooden porch with a red-tiled roof, with heavy Horsham slate covering some of the roof.
The church is still actively used for worship, and has a loyal and welcoming congregation.
