    Story

In memory of Stephen Earl Hudson, aka, Hurricane Hudson, ten lifeguards will be taking part in a sponsored board paddle. The paddle will take place on Sunday the 27th of August at 6:30 pm, starting at St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay and ending at Tynemouth North Pier Lighthouse. Stephen was a huge part of the surfing community and had a profound effect on the people fortunate enough to have met him or called him a friend. We ask for your support in showing his family and friends just how much he meant to us all. Following the paddle everyone is welcome to join us for a BBQ and celebration of Stephen's life. This will take place from 7 pm onward outside of the Tynemouth Surf Co hut based at Longsands beach south. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Multiple sclerosis Society.

So we managed to do the 6.5 mile paddle in 1hr 45mins. It was really nice to have everyone on the beach as we arrived. The event managed to raise over £1500 which will be donated to the family's charity of choice, The Multiple Sclerosis Society. Thanks again for all the support we received, from the donations to people offering up their time to help with set up. The just giving page will be removed tomorrow evening, so anyone that still wants to donate please do so before then. Photos to follow on Facebook soon.

We have been blown away by the support and kind messages we've received on our page. The BBQ is going ahead tomorrow night (Sunday) as planned and it looks like we are in for good weather. So come down and support the paddlers, we look forward to seeing you all there.

Thank you to all those who have been supporting this event, I can confirm that we have smashed our target amount by some distance. Hopefully you can all make it to the BBQ on Sunday night.

What a wonderful way to remember Stephen. I have many happy memories of him surfing as a boy on family holidays in Cornwall. Never out of the water...always smiling.

The idea for this event came about when a group of Stephen's friends wanted to do something special in his memory. The money raised from this event will be donated to the Multiple sclerosis Society, a charity that Stephen supported.
