The eye of Hurricane Irma hit the small British Virgin Island of Tortola on 6 September 2017, where my sister Jayne Gray and her husband Nick Cunha have lived and worked for the past 12 years.

Irma is the worst hurricane to have hit the Caribbean Islands in history and has left behind a trail of destruction and devastation.

My sister and her husband managed to survive Irma by sheltering in a shower cubicle after the house around them was completely destroyed. The shower cubicle is all that was left standing.

My sister and her husband have lost their home, all of their possessions and everything they held dear including their little kitty cat - Petro who has also been lost. Everything they've collected for the last 12 years has been destroyed.
