Story
Across the globe, women are facing abuse, poverty and discrimination.
Through our International Women's Day event in March we hope to raise money for girls around the world who are in need of help. Our chosen charities all work to improve the quality of women’s lives in different ways. They are Daughters of Eve, which works to eliminate female genital mutilation worldwide, Refuge, which helps victims of domestic abuse in the UK, and Days for Girls, which provides sanitary products and education for girls in less economically developed countries; their mission is to enable every girl and woman to have ready access to feminine hygiene, by 2022, and we would like to support this worthy cause.
In our event, we will have a space to donate money, and will set up three boards with our charities’ aims and missions, to see exactly where our money will go, and the kind of girls’ lives we could change forever; for example, by donating £2 to Refuge, you can provide a woman in need with an emergency pack, to help clothe and care for her children after escaping from an abusive relationship.
We hope to raise £1000 for these amazing charities.
Any donation at all is invaluable. At the end of the event, we will count everything we've made, and spread the donations out between our 3 charities to help women living in fear of abuse and discrimination.
Refuge didn’t just give me a place to stay. They gave me something far better than that. They gave me ‘me’… Without Refuge I would still be with him. Or worse, not be here at all - Diana, 30, stayed in one of the refuges in London
To cut off the sensitive sexual organ of a girl is directly against the honesty of nature, a distortion to her womanhood, and an abuse of her fundamental human right - Joseph Osuigwe Chidiebere
I am no longer an orphan. I am now a leader of women - Kgotso, 12, helped by Days for Girls
