Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I have always known that something about my son was different. At three months, he couldn’t do tummy time, six months he couldn’t sit unaided, at a year old he couldn’t pull himself up on furniture eventually he walked just before his 2nd birthday. He couldn’t walk far or for long periods of time and still at 3 has issues with walking and not being able to run, jump, hop and climb. As a first time mother I felt so deflated watching on as my son struggle to do things children younger than him had mastered. He hated going to soft play centres, never asked to go to the park and when we did go he would sit on a bench next to me just watching the other children play. I knew something wasn’t right so finally after pushing for near on 2 years with various GP appointments I finally managed to get him a paediatrician appointment.
The day of the appointment came and our lives would never be the same again. Our Perfect little boy was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, the doctors have never seen his mutation before! This condition is a life-limiting muscle wasting condition where he is only going to get weaker with life expectancy being just mid 20's at the moment as there is no cure. All we can do is make as many memories as we can with our son and live each day as it comes.
Sadly it's coming to a time I've always dreaded and that is where Isaac is starting to notice small differences between him and his friends. At 4 years old I had hoped he may not notice yet but he has and is asking questions which is why we are keen to keep letting Isaac join in with "normal" child activities where ever possible. Isaac has said he would love to ride a bike which is something that has never been possible for him before so please keep an eye out on this page for details of our fundraising efforts, or message me if you would like to help or have an idea that may help. We are fundraising for a specially adapted bike for Isaac so he can ride along with his friends and not let MD define who he is.
Thankyou for everyone's ongoing support
