SLV is an organisation that runs placements for graduate and undergraduate students, the placement which I have been accepted in to is in Sri Lanka. This placement allows me to volunteer first hand with mental health patients, help children with learning difficulties, and teach English to the community. SLV has been going for just under 7 years, and provides people in communities were there is little focus on mental health, well needed support.

After applying and doing an interview I was offered a place with SLV to do a 5 week volunteer placement in Sri Lanka on July the 24th 2017. I am incredibly excited to take part in such a wonderful project, and can't wait to learn more about Mental Health and how to really help others. To work in Sri Lanka will be such an inspiring experience, where I will be able to help people who really need support, and learn a lot about the culture in Sri Lanka (since the furthest I've been is Turkey). The first hand experience will also really help me with my career prospects in Clinical Psychology in the future!

However, the training and placement fee's to volunteer with SLV are 1300 alone not including flights, visa, travel money etc, and since this is a volunteer opportunity and NOT a holiday, I am aiming to raise £1000 of my placement fee.
