In 2017, I have the opportunity to travel to Malawi to have a once in a lifetime experience. I will learn about how people my age live in less fortunate circumstances and help to improve these as much as I can.

Recently, I hosted a 13yo boy who came over from Malawi along with two other pupils and a teacher of their school. He stayed with friends/class mates, Emily and Charlotte before staying with myself and my family for a short period of time, letting him experience what it is like to live the way we live here in the UK. He attended school with myself and took part in a wide range of activities/trips, things that we all take for guaranteed day-to-day, which he had never experienced in his life.

Myself, Emily & Charlotte (and everyone else that took part) will treasure all the times the Malawians made us smile, cry and most of all, laugh, referring to the time Yamikani claimed the forge was "Beautiful". Meeting Yamikani, the most kind-hearted, hard working and funny 13yo, has altered my outlook on life and making me appreciate everything and anything I have or get. My time with him makes me determined to go over and meet many others in a similar situations, but I therefore have to raise the target provided. I will also be carrying out various activities such as sponsored walks, a race/charity night, santa dash and much more, so I will make sure to keep you all updated!
