Story
Katie's wishes become through my grandma Katie Morgan who was in hospital for the end of her journey with Dementia. When visiting her I was saddened my the sight of a circle of people including my grandma all sat in chairs with fixed trays in front of them (not dissimilar to baby high chairs) all had nothing to do and no where to go,=. Because of that I decided I wanted to make things different and as I work on a hospital ward (A7 UHW) where we are seeing more and more patients coming in with Dementia and other cognitive illnesses I wanted to make things better than my grandma had.
My journey so far has led me to be successful in charity funding bids to firstly make our day room into an activity room and the latter a funding bid to put together activity boxes which can be used by all the wards at Cardiff University Hospital of wales and present some to University Hospital of LLandough.
I hope by raising more money that more hospitals can be included and that this practice will spread to all.
