In January I had just got off a flight from holiday when my phone rang. It was my son Dale to tell me his girlfriend Jodie had collapsed in the street and was in hospital.

She had been complaining that her leg/foot was swollen for weeks. She went to the doctors numerous times and even the hospital.

The DVT in her leg was not detected which resulted in a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism (a blood clot that had travelled from her leg into her lungs) along with sepsis.

On Saturday evening whilst out walking with her mum she collapsed in the street. She was rushed to Halifax hospital so so close to death. The initial drugs given didn't work she was so poorly it was heartbreaking to see her so ill. Dale hardly left her side. The eventually gave her a stronger drug which thank god worked and about a week later she was allowed home.

Life will never be quite the same again possibly on medication for the rest of her life. But we are thankful we still have her and love her very much.

So please give as much as you can for this worthwhile blood clot charity because you never know what's just around the corner.
We will be skydiving to raise money.
