A community first responder is a volunteer who is trained to respond to emergency calls in conjunction with their local ambulance service. As they respond in the local areas where they live and work they are able to attend the scene of an emergency within a few minutes, and often before the emergency service arrives.

They provide a vital stepping stone for the care of patients in life threatening emergencies and due to the ever increasing demand on local ambulance services and the NHS, their role is becoming more and more crucial.

Seahaven Responders volunteer in the areas of Saltdean through to Seaford and have a very good rapport with South East Coast Ambulance Service but unfortunately all of our training and equipment has to be self funded, costing roughly around £3000 to fully train and equip 1 volunteer. This has an increasing impact on the charity and therefore every donation is indispensable in keeping our volunteers on the road and providing that all important care to those individuals in their most critical need.

Not only do Seahaven Responders respond within their local area, but they also attend local events and volunteer at local schools to help raise awareness and teach people the importance of good and effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when an individual is in cardiac arrest, giving every person a fighting chance of survival when this unfortunately happens.
