How many of us know someone who's life has been touched by cancer? Too many of us, I'm sure. That's why, on Sunday 8 October, i'll be running 10 Miles of the Yorkshire Marathon, in support of and to raise much needed funds for Leeds Cancer Support and the Robert Ogden Cancer Centre.

When deciding which charity to run this race for, I really wanted to help a smaller, local charity. I wanted the money we raise to go to front line resources and immediately help those in need. Despite being branded as a Macmillan cancer centre, the Robert Ogden Cancer Centre receives no funds from the Macmillan cancer charity and rely on direct donations. They're such a small charity that they don't even have their own Just Giving page, so I'm crowdfunding on their behalf. Every penny of your money will go directly to the cancer centre.

I'm hoping to run 10 miles in under 1 hour 40 minutes. Please give that some thought when considering your donation - running constantly for nearly 2 hours! It wont be easy but the money raised will make it all worth while.

Whilst you're here, when researching charities to run for, I came across some startling facts. Did you know that the CEO of Macmillan Cancer Support earns over £150,000 a year? The CEO of Cancer Research UK earns over £240,000 a year! These are staggering figures - your donations - paying such massive salaries. I don't deny the amazing work that these organisations do but I didn't want the money raised by us to go to pay salaries, I want it to go to straight to the people that need it most.
