By the grace of the almighty, all praise is to Allah, we have reached and surpassed 100% of our initial target through offline fundraising. However it does not stop here, we need as much funds as possible to help our Rohingya brothers, sisters, sons and daughters.

We are all aware of the situation in Burma and the persecution of the ethnic Rohingya communities in the Rakhine state.

The Rohingya Muslims are fleeing in their hundreds of thousands from the state led campaign of ethnic cleansing which has been described by many international bodies as genocide. Their villages are being burned, they are being burned alive, brutally killed and murdered, beheaded and raped. Even our baby sons and daughters are not being spared.

Over 500,000 Rohingya are now reported to be seeking refuge at the borders of Bangladesh, yet news agencies are reporting that although a number of charities are supposedly on the ground, yet there are thousands of refugees who have yet to have any contact with any aid agencies and receive humanitarian aid. They have been on their own since arriving and government restrictions on aid agencies are further hindering aid efforts. Furthermore, there is no coordinated effort in aid distribution and thousands of refugees remain hungry.

This is a heartfelt plea from the Jalalabad Masjid committee members to pray for the Rohingya communitee. You do not have to Me a Muslim to have sympathy for the Rohingya and their plight. All you have to be is Human.

We at the Jalalabad Masjid are collecting urgent funds to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to the Rohingya refugees on the borders of Bangladesh. With our contacts at the Bangladesh and Burmese borders, we will endeavour to personally deliver aid to the refugees.
