Story

Raising funds for our new sensory room

We desperately need support to raise enough money to refurbish our sensory room and create a whole new sensory room. Unfortunately, we don't get funds from the Local Authority for these sorts of things and Redbridge itself is really strapped for cash.

Our Friends of Little Heath have committed to put a lot of their money to helping out and the school is able to use some of its own resources to do the same. But it isn't quite enough. So far we have about £20,000 out of about £24,000 to do this job. Local charities (Fairlop Lions and others) have helped us get closer to achieving our goal. This is where you come in!

Many of you will know that I love to run. I have now completed 25 half marathons in the last five and a half years: four of them in the last three months.

My most recent events were The Big Half (London) 10 March, run in 1 hour 45 minutes and 57 seconds, the Hackney Half Marathon, run in 1 hour 45 minutes and 11 seconds, and the St Alban's Half Marathon, run in 1 hour 45 minutes and 50 seconds and the Hard Half Marathon at Hitchin, run in 1 hour 50 minutes and 54 seconds.. (That one is known as the Hitchin Hard Half Marathon on account of the hills!)

I would like you to sponsor me for whatever amount you can, for one, two, three or all of these events. I will have run 52.4 miles (or 84.4km) with hundreds of miles of training to get there.

Thank you in advance for your support.

I wanted to let you know that we have almost reached the £600 mark through Just Giving. Thanks to all of you for your donations so far. But that is not the only source of funding coming in. Over the last week we have received a cheque for £1,000 and donations of £150 and £35 from very generous supporters in our community of Little Heath. That means we have raised £1,780 of the £5,000 and I know there will be more support. Please give generously. James Brownlie Head teacher of Little Heath School

Half term break is almost over and we go back to school in the morning. In the last days I have managed to add 54km worth of training. I even added a 5k parkrun at the weekend. Check out the image below.

Hey, we've passed the £500 Mark! In fact we've made £525 now. That's really good as it means we only have £4,475 to go. Thank you for all your support in bringing this improvement to our sensory rooms to reality.
