Story
Hello,
I'm James, one of York Nightline's Public Faces.
Since coming to York many many years ago (4 if I count properly), I have been part of several fun activities. But by far the most rewarding thing I've done since joining (besides Countdown) has been my time as a volunteer with York Nightline. I did nights over two and a half years and listening to my fellow students and learning more about what others are thinking and feeling and going through and watching them enter a call and open up was one of the most enriching experience I could have imagined. Though tough at times, I can't speak highly enough of my experience and how grateful I am to be aware of the importance of listening and recognising others. Also, there were lots of cups of coffee and tea.
About ten months ago, I became a Public Face so that I could do more to raise awareness about the organisation and do my bit to represent the service at public events. Now, as I approach the end of my four years at university, I would like to do one last gesture to help support the service. On April 2nd, I am going to run the Manchester Marathon (with a speculative aim of doing it in under 4 hours...or maybe 3 hours 45 if all goes souper well!).
So please do consider giving a pound or so their way in order so they can help doing their bit for the students at York and York St John in the years to come.
