Story
At the end of October Kate and I are running as a father and daughter team in the 50th Anniversary of the Original Mountain Marathon (OMM). The event is a two day endurance event over the steep hills of Langdale in the Lake District. We will have to navigate and carry all our kit and food for the two day run including overnight gear - in total we will race over 50km over some of the most mountainous terrain in England.
As an added incentive to support us, for every £10 donated you will also receive an entry into a draw for a microlight flight for two over the Cotswolds. i,e £20 gets you two entries. If you win and do not wish to take the flight you can gift it to another person....but why miss out!
We are a father and daughter team - it's a big challenge for us! Not least sharing a very small tent....I am trying to recover the fitness of my youth with regular training runs on Dartmoor but my ageing body isn't quite performing as well as it used to! And as Kate lives in London where her hill training is restricted to running up and down the stairs at work with few laps of Battersea Park....
We are raising money for Flying for Freedom- www.flyingforfreedom.org. Flying for Freedom help wounded, injured and sick servicemen, women and veterans recover through flying microlights. It's an organisation which we both volunteer for and have seen at first hand the real difference flying so close to the elements can make to individuals who have suddenly had their ability to be active and adventurous snatched away from them.
Whilst microlight flying is one of the cheapest forms of powered flying it still costs money....so every little helps. £30 can provide an hours flying for a wounded soldier. See Flying for Freedom - YouTube for lots of inspirational clips on the benefits of flying in small open cockpit aircraft.
We will keep you updated as to our progress on the Flying for Freedom Facebook Page - please like it to follow us. I will also post on my twitter feed @JamesHarris24 and Kate will be posting on Instagram - kate_g_l_harris.
Thank you for your support.

Thank you to all for your support. Now just a few more £££ to go to hit our target. If you know anybody out there who would like to donate please give them the details!! Kindest regards James, Sheron and Kate who's idea it was!!!
