Danielle’s story

Danielle is 37, a mum, a wife, a counsellor, an organiser, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a friend, a fighter, and the life and soul. She’s also mum vs cancer.

And here’s her story.

Eighteen months ago Danielle, who lives in Ampthill in Bedfordshire, discovered she had bowel cancer. It’s not fair, it’s not kind, it’s unbelievable, but Danielle stood up to cancer and, after gruelling rounds of chemo, surgery and recovery, Danielle nailed it!

Tragically though, Danielle’s cancer returned, almost a year to the day of her first diagnosis and the gruelling treatment began again. And again, she endured the surgery, the chemo, the sickness, the low times and fought hard again to beat it.

Sadly, then her 8 year old son was diagnosed with leukaemia, meaning both mother and son were fighting cancer together.

With the help of family and friends, money was raised for Danielle’s treatment, with the unbelievable generosity and kindness of many people.

Sadly Danielle recently lost her brave battle with cancer. Getting people to hear Danielle’s story is important. Her story is heart breaking, extraordinary, rare, but her positivity made it inspiring too. MVC will continue as a legacy charity in Danielle’s memory, raising money to help families going though a diagnosis of cancer.
